    Good Katrin. This word is both a countable and uncountable noun, and in your example sentence I think it would sound more natural to use it as an uncountable noun and omit the article “a”. He deserves severe retribution for his crimes. But you are also correct. It is more a question of style than accuracy. Nice work.
