    I guess it means that not everything that looks nice on the outside turns out to be so, e.g. a woman might look really pretty but might be really superficial and just focused on her own well-being.

    Yes. Very good! Some things look more valuable, beautiful, important, etc. than they actually are.

    I think this proverb almost share the same value with “don’t judge a book by its cover”. This one, teach us to not be easily deceived by appearances. Sometimes, something is more wicked than it looks.
