nomenclature

Write a sentence using the word nomenclature in the comments. Practicing new words in sentences will help you remember them, and it allows me to see if your usage and understanding of the word is correct. If you are not sure, guess! Guessing about how to use new vocabulary also helps make it stick. I will provide correction and feedback for your sentence.

It’s also important to practice the pronunciation of a new word. I’ve created a pronunciation loop so you can listen and repeat.

  1. Katrin

I am not familiar with the nomenclatures of chemistry.

  2. Amy Estrada

In your example sentence we use nomenclature as an uncountable noun, so to be correct it should read, “I am not familiar with the nomenclature of chemistry.” Very nice understanding of the word.

  3. MTuca

I’ve a doubt about my job’s nomenclature . I don’t know if I use civil servant, public servant, government employee.

  4. Amy Estrada

In this case you are referring to a job title, and not exactly nomenclature. So it would be better to say that you have a doubt about your job title. I think you have the idea of the word, but try using it again in a new sentence.

  5. Nia

I am confuse about how to identify an animal through the biology nomenclature system

  6. Geraldine

I’m no sure about the correct use of the nomenclatures in the trade exchange.

  7. Amy Estrada

Nice Geraldine. Remember “no” should be “not.” Nomenclature is non-countable, so you can say:

I’m not sure about the correct use of the nomenclature in the trade exchange.
